MIRA Privacy Policy

MIRA is a product of the Mood Disorder Society of Canada (MDSC), developed in partnership with the University of Alberta, Dalhousie University, University of Saskatchewan, International Indigenous Health Research and Training Centre, AI4Society, Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (amii), and APEC Digital Hub for Mental Health. As such, the MIRA website follows the MDSC Privacy Statement. You may access a copy of this statement HERE.

Website Privacy Information

The MIRA website, and MIRA services are hosted on secure servers at the University of Alberta.

Through this website, the MIRA team collects, in a limited way, personal information. MIRA gathers trend data for statistical analysis of web traffic but this information is not linked, individually, to personal information. We do not collect any identifiable information from analytics, including IP addresses. The only identifiable information collected is if a client chooses to use our “contact us” form, and in such volunteers their email address, name and other information as requested on the “contact us” form. This information is carefully protected and kept in confidence. It will not be sold to any third party. It also will not be used for any other purpose, unless consent is requested and given.

Publicly available business or individual contact information is not considered personal information.

Privacy of Children

The Site is intended for people who are at least 18 years of age. If you are less than 18 years old, please do not send any personal data to us – including information such as your name, address, or email address. We do not knowingly collect (nor do we wish to collect) any personal data or other user information from individuals under the age of 18 years. In the event that we learn we have collected any personal information from anyone under the age of 18 years, we will delete that information from our database. If you are interested in MIRA and under 18, we encourage you to discuss the Site with a parent or guardian.

MIRA Content Policy

Any redistribution or reproduction of the content of this website without MDSC written approval is prohibited.

You may download to a local hard disk only for your personal and non-commercial use any MIRA resource produced for the public domain. You may copy verbatim content to individual third parties for personal use, but only if you acknowledge this site as the source of the material and provide a link back to the page containing the original content.

You may not, except with express written MDSC permission, distribute or commercially exploit the content. Nor may you transmit it or store it in any other Website or other forms of electronic retrieval system.

MIRA Link Policy

MIRA strives to play an active role in linking our website-visitors to relevant information and support. In this way we support people in making informed health decisions and take advantage of a rich array of information.

The following criteria will guide our decision-making in approving links:
• Supports the mission, vision and values of the MDSC and the MIRA project
• Site is useful and meaningful to our target audience
• Information provided is both credible and reliable
• Promotes our commitment to partnership across sectors
• Promotes self-help and peer support
• Promotes the inclusion of persons with Lived Experience of mental illness or mental health issues and disabilities
• The MIRA does not routinely link to commercial for-profit sites to promote specific products or services

MDSC and the MIRA project reserves the right to final decisions on approving or declining links to any site, or other company or group. We request a reciprocal link as part of our terms of approval.

We may update our Privacy Statement periodically and will notify you of any changes by posting amendments on this webpage.
